Motivation

Motivation is the act of stimulating oneself to get a desired course of action, to push the right button to get the desired reaction. It is an inspirational process that inspires us to pull our weight effectively to give our loyalty to a situation or goal.

Abraham Lincoln, until past forty, was a failure in almost all activities he undertook. When asked about the change in attitude, he said, My father taught me to work but did not teach me to love my work. I hit that accidentally when I was past forty. The love or will to do is called motivation; and it depends on the strength of our motives.

Motives

  • Motivation comes from the word motive. It’s original meaning deals with movement, which is central to getting started. The idea of movement in the word motive and motivation is all about taking action.
  • It is an essential factor in everyday life. Our basic behaviours and feelings are affected by our inner drive to succeed over daily challenges while setting goals for ourselves. It promotes our feelings of competence and self-worth as we achieve our goals.
  • A motive is an impulse that causes a person to act. It is an internal process that makes a person move toward a goal. It is applied mainly to an inner urge that prompts us to take a step even though it may also apply to a contemplated result.
  • Motives can help us reach our potential each day. Sure, they’re just words. But they’re positive words. And if we’re on the verge of giving up or struggling to push ourselves to the next level, sometimes that’s just what we need.

Good Habits.

  • Michael Jordan missed more than 9,000 shots in his career. He lost almost 300 games, and 26 times he was trusted to make game-winning shots and missed, but he won 6 championship rings. He failed over and over and over again, and that is why he succeeded.
  • Without hustle, talent will only carry us so far. Every successful person in the world is a hustler one way or another. We all hustle to get where we need to be. Only a fool would sit around and wait on another man to feed him.
  • Music can be a powerful motivator to get us in the groove. A good morning habit is to listen to a few inspirational songs before our day starts to get us going. By setting our minds in the right mindset, we can inch closer to motivating ourselves.
  • Celebrating small wins will help us stay motivated through our journey. Plus, celebrating is always super fun. Maybe we break our goals down into smaller-sized goals with tasks that get us on track to achieve them.
  • Surrounded by those who love our ambition will allow us to be more ambitious and achieve more. If we’re surrounded by loved ones who are not ambitious and want us to change, we need to avoid them or change our surroundings.

Pearls of Wisdom.

  • Every champion was once a contender that did not give up. They had to look at the big picture, which was not about winning and losing. It is about everyday hard work and thriving on challenges. Embracing the tough times we experience during a race and not being afraid.
  • Motivation is like oxygen; you only know it is missing when you are gasping for more. It is like steam. Properly channelled, it can move large objects like a steam-powered train. But without it, the train remains motionless.
  • We must accept that we do not always make the right decisions, and we will sometimes get it wrong. We must understand that failure is not the opposite of success, It is a part of success.
  • We are made strong when we go through the process of rebuilding ourselves like the long-lost Ark of the Covenant. Everyone claims to know where it is, but no one actually knows where it is.

Movement.

  • The core secret of sustainable and consistent success is Movement and not Motivation. Movement creates motivation, not the other way round. It is never the size of our problem that is the issue. It’s a lack of momentum.
  • In business, relationship, fitness, leadership, spiritual build-up, entrepreneurship journey, or even parenting, it works everywhere and at any time. If we are not motivated, we need to move. Motivation is not created by waiting. It’s generated by physical movement.
  • The most successful people in the world are not always motivated. They don’t live their life by their mood. They generate their motivation through movement. That’s why Nike has become a billion-dollar brand. Think about their slogan, “Just Do It”.
  • The #1 enemy of success is waiting to be motivated. Motivation is meant for starters; movement is the secret of finishers. If we want to finish strong in life, keep moving.
  • Most books have been left unwritten due to lack of motivation. Innovations buried in the grave due to lack of momentum, and ideas will forever lay dormant because of a lack of movement.
  • Most of my write-ups are not born out of motivation; they are born out of ‘movement’. Don’t wait for your spirit to be stirred before you take necessary and strategic steps in life. Move your spirit. Most masterpieces are not born out of motivation; they are born out of the movement.

Motivation is all about our internal desire to accomplish something important to us. This desire makes us take action. It is about an unmet need that we want to satisfy; it’s about a goal that we want to fulfil. Movement creates momentum, and momentum inspires motivation.
