The Struggle

Our life is the sum of our thoughts and beliefs about life. If we were taught that life is a struggle, every experience we have will be framed within this thinking. Instead of being open-minded about what life throws at us, we will automatically be expecting bad things to happen.

What inspires me about us is how despite all the problems, despite the inherent suffering of humans due to our consciousness, despite the betrayals and murders and corruption we have inflicted onto each other, we have always found ways to survive and carry on.

We have always found ways to create and improve. We have always had significant figures who led humanity in the right direction, and we have staved off the ones who tried to lead us collectively into hell.

But none of the great works of the past could have come without struggle. None of the masterpieces in music and art we herald and enjoy to this day could have been gifted to humanity if individuals hadn’t conquered their demons.

We are all fighting inner demons and suffering in ways that no one else could fathom. If it’s not our friends or family members who are suffering, there is always a constant, perpetual, and great battle raging in our minds.

The struggle is an unavoidable part of our journey in life. Nothing ever comes easy when we are trying to build towards our dreams. Difficulties and hardship will be a constant companion, but there have been others, who passed through a similar struggle, as we are doing now. And there are people, who are facing it right now. We are certainly not alone in your struggle.

Maybe the most important fight that we must deal with in our life is within ourselves. Maybe our life’s purpose is to win the inner battle, defeat the dragon within us, integrate our shadow into our being, eradicate the self, the ego, the persona we have created for ourselves, and live authentically with courage.

Could it be that our reason for living is not to become so rich that we don’t have to do anything or get that high paying, prestigious job and have everyone jealous of us or indulge in euphoric conditions through drugs, alcohol, and excessive lifestyle?

Could our purpose in life be to aim for the highest possible good in our life, to look within and find the things we can change and improve in ourselves, to pursue the betterment of ourselves and the people around us and society itself or to push the boulder up the mountain, even if it means absolutely nothing in the end?

Maybe our purpose in life is to face the struggle, not avoid it. Stop looking for the meaning of our life in other things. Look into ourselves, find the life path that is filled with hard work, sacrifices, and struggle, and run in that direction. Find what scares us the most, what we dream about doing but are reluctant to admit and pursue it.
