Baby Steps.

Baby Steps.

  • Baby steps are the beginning of our journey and not our destination. We never really arrive. If we stop and think about it, we don’t ever really figure it all out, do we? Nope. Not completely.
  • Life is a series of small steps and efforts taken along the way consistently. And if we add up these tiny baby steps we take forward, we reach our goal.
  • Every little step reminds us that the destination is not our only goal. Like with any form of a journey, there are times when the roads are straight and times when they are winding.
  • Even when we hit goals and reach our biggest dreams, we ultimately end up wanting more, because we crave growth. We are wired for it. Even when we overcome obstacles and figure out our problems, we’re not done, because there is always more work to do.

Wisdom.

  • A flower arises from a bud. A small bud gradually becomes a full bud, from which a small flower grows, then it slowly takes a full shape.
  • We travel like a chameleon which reflects the colour of our environment, and our greatest pleasure along the way is not the topic of conversation but the music our words create before we get to our destination.
  • Our steps have no bones, but it is strong enough to break a heart. We take steps to create a fantasy of a better world and to re-write moments we have lived over in a way that makes no sense to us.
  • We can seek the wisdom of the ages but look at the world through the eyes of a child. Wisdom is the daughter of experience, and we see the miraculous in the common.
  • All wines should be tasted, and some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle. The best mind-altering drug is the truth. Life is a good school, but the fees are high.

The Classroom.

  • No matter how much we accomplish or what kind of education we receive, there are some things that only life can teach us. Lessons that we only learn in the classroom of life.
  • We learn to forgive ourselves for our mistakes and failures. If we put a small value on ourselves, rest assured that the world will not raise our price.
  • At some point, we will be faced with things that terrify us. Don’t be afraid of our fears. They’re not there to scare us, but to let us know that something is worth fighting for.
  • Everything in life is seasonal. So if things are going good, enjoy the season because it won’t last forever. And if things are going as planned, don’t worry, this too shall come to pass.
  • No matter how independent we are, we will need some help along the way. We are not immune to disappointment and heartbreak and sometimes we just can’t find the strength to pick ourselves up.
  • While many things will be out of our control, we still have a choice. A choice in the way we see things, a choice in the way we react to things, a choice in the way we become more cautious in the future, a choice in the way we let our circumstances define who we are.

The Process.

  • Small acts of self-improvement, will encourage us to do more, and focus better. Just like a child does not learn to walk all at once, they start with baby steps, they crawl, fall, and then they learn how to walk, and run.
  • Memories are priceless treasures that we can cherish forever in our hearts. They also enable us to continue with our journey for whatever life has in store for us. We must accept what life offers us and try to drink from every cup.
  • We will be confronted with many situations, some will be filled with joy, and some will be filled with heartache. The challenging part is in the beginning.
  • It only takes one idea, one second in time, one dream, to change everything forever. But I think the most important thing is to just do it. Start.
  • The process of achieving our dreams and finding success is gradual. Never be disappointed with small failures, we will fall, and learn how to get back on our feet again.
  • A new opportunity means a fresh start and all the wonderful possibilities new beginnings bring. When one door closes and another opens, it can bring a lot of promise along.

Momentum.

  • Newton’s First Law of Motion. Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.
  • Taking the first step can be the hardest part. The situation will never be perfect. Our time is now. To borrow a phrase from Nike, “Just Do It”. There are things we will learn along the way and that is all part of our growth.
  • Whatever beginning goals we set for ourselves, following through on them will build momentum and a sense of achievement and those small successes will point the way to bigger ones.
  • It means doing a little more of the things that move us forward and a little less of the things that hold us back. Somedays those things will feel like an inch, while other days they will feel like a mile.
  • It starts with a commitment to ourselves. It is a mental shift and it can be a force for change in our life. Commit ourselves to take one step closer to our goals. Nothing will change without a commitment to break away from our norm.
  • Modelling is the process of replicating excellence and success. This is done by studying people who have the results we want, finding out how they got those results and doing what they did. Read their blogs or books or ask them.
  • Fear is part of life. Some of our fears are founded and based on the avoidance of pain and our need for basic survival. Many fears, however, are simply a product of our minds. Acknowledge it and move beyond it.

Adventure.

  • An adventure is an exciting experience or undertaking that is typically bold, sometimes risky. It may be activities with some potential for physical danger such as travelling, exploring, skydiving, mountain climbing or participating in extreme sports.
  • It is a daring experience towards an unknown future. Its beauty depends on how much we enjoy the path. It expands and broadens our minds and makes us learn new and unique things which were unknown before.
  • When there is no possibility of retreat, we will find the creativity that only an adventurous mind can bring. It is often said that what doesn’t kill us will make us stronger. A few steps can light a fire in our minds and bring tears from a stone-cold heart.
  • To follow the right path, we must overcome some obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are blessings in disguise, only we don’t realise them at the time.
  • Adventure is tolerance for adversityWe can be resilient in the face of challenges. Our willingness to laugh, use humour, and be graceful during difficult situations.
  • Children are curious and risk-takers. They have lots of courage and they venture out into a world that is immense and dangerous. A child initially trusts life and its process.
  • The unexpected around the corner gives us a sense of anticipation and surprise. It is because of these encounters that we learn some of life’s best lessons and sometimes we even learn a little bit about ourselves.

 Self-discovery.

  • Finding ourselves means being more aware of the person we are, and accepting our feelings, thoughts, personality, goals, and dreams. Feeling at peace with the person we’ve become.
  • The door to experience in life is finding the key to being ourselves and discovering that silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom.
  • It is a journey or series of events whereby we attempt to determine how we feel, personally, about spiritual issues or priorities, rather than following the opinions of family, friends, neighbourhood or peer pressure.
  • We must always follow our hearts, and most importantly never have any regrets. Don’t hold anything back. Say what we want to say, and do what we want to do, because sometimes we don’t get a second chance to say or do what we should have done the first time around.
  • If our thoughts were a cocktail, it would be a mixture of two spoons of romance, a spoon of passion, and three spoons of love all mixed.
  • A self-discovery, manipulated deftly, will take us prisoner and run itself around our limbs like spider silk. When we are so enthralled that we cannot move, it pierces our skin, enter our blood, numb our thoughts, and work its magic to create a vision of a new world.
  • Some beautiful paths cannot be discovered without getting lost, and it isn’t hanging off a rope on the side of a mountain or living among lions that makes life interesting, it is an attitude to experience everyday things that make it an adventure.
  • The wilderness holds answers to questions we have not yet learned to ask. It is not only a mirror of ourselves but a focusing lens on what we can become.
  • We learn to listen to nature because the word listens contains the same letters as the word silent, and an ear that listens can be medicine for a heart that hurts.
  • It is our willingness to commit to an uncertain outcome with an open heart and a willingness to learn and engage. We can leap into the unknown with mindfulness and grace. It is when we accept something outside the boundaries of reasoning.

Knowledge.

  • Along the way, we may stumble upon obstacles that will come between the paths that we are destined to take. Our eyes are suddenly open to a world we never knew existed.
  • A world where time is so precious, and moments never seem to last long enough. We are faced with a blank page or an empty stage.
  • We realise that doubt is the origin of wisdom and foolishness is a twin sister of experience. Everything comes to us over time if we have the patience to wait.
  • Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. How we react to what we are faced with determines what kind of outcome the rest of our journey through life will be like.
  • We gain experience in life when we realise how little we know about ourselves and the world around us. Knowledge comes from learning and wisdom comes from living.
  • The destination matters, but the journey makes it all worthwhile. Experience is what we gain when we didn’t get what we wanted, and it becomes the most valuable gift we have to offer.
  • And while there isn’t anything wrong with wanting things in our life or aspiring, sometimes those goals and dreams do distract us from the beauty in the daily moments.
  • We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future. Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens, and integrity takes the path to our destination.
  • It is about growth, living and learning. If we have the guts to keep making mistakes, our life and knowledge will leap forward with huge momentum into wisdom, which gives a test before presenting the lesson.

Experience.

  • There are moments in life in which we wished we could go back in time and tell our younger self some things we wished we had known then what we know now. But honestly, there are also times that we’re glad we didn’t know what we know now.
  • A huge part of our stepsis the process of learning and figuring it all out. We can’t know what is coming and we need to enjoy every day instead of trying to “arrive.” We should enjoy the unfolding and the process.
  • It is because of the heartaches, as well as the hardships, that in the end help to make us stronger people. In this sense, “stronger” means looking back at the person we were and comparing it to the person we have become today.
  • It also means looking deep into our soul and realizing that the person we are today couldn’t exist if it weren’t for the things that have happened in the past or for the people that we have met.
  • Time stops for no one, and if we allow ourselves to focus on the destination, we might miss out on some amazing scenery that our steps have to offer.
  • We put our headphones on but don’t play any music so that we can eavesdrop on the conversations of strangers.

Baby steps allow us to create from an idea in our mind, through the feelings in our heart that develop from a fire burning within our soul.

It gives shape to our thoughts, and when our thoughts start to breathe, every sentence creates a message with a thought-provoking parable about our steps.
